Taking Action to educate adolescent girls

St.Elizabeth Girls school offers well targeted subsidies to disadvantaged girls to enable them attend school. We shall also tap into the government's subsidies for girls under the Universal secondary school programme.

We have designed mentoring programmes for girls after school.Al girls are encouraged to stay in Boarding because it gives them more time to study and increases their chances of progressing. The programme provides a one to one mentoring to ensure that after school hours are dedicated to study and not for part-time jobs  or family obligations.
The programme also provide ;in the process we bteach basic health, reproductive health and financial literacy.

Supplementary training beyond the formal curriculum for the development of skills  for social and civic participation

St.Elizabeth has a curricula relevant to adolescent girls.Girls are able to acquire renumerative and marketable skills which are not taught at home.We are in the process of acquiring computers. We promote fluency in international languages. In this case we started with French. We hope to teach Swahili in the near future to enable our girls compete for jobs in the East African Community. We also offer financial skills.

We are in a process of developing new methods to promote interactive and collaborative learning .This can help develop critical thinking and decision making skills and instill a habit of lifelong learning-capacities that will equip the girls for a rapidly changing world.
